The fifth General meeting of Kigali Conference has been crowned Tuesday here by the adoption of Algiers platform which defines the main lines of the common action for the fight against violence against women and girls, in the light of the visions and strategies drawn.
Participants praised the role of the Algerian police in promoting regional and international action in general and the prevention of and the fight against crime in all its forms and violence against women in particular.
In a press conference at the end of the General meeting, Judicial police director, inspector Ali Feragh said that the experts having participated in Algiers meeting and the African police officers “underlined the importance of training and sharing of experiences and good practices to combat violence against women,” while insisting on “prevention through media.”
The participants underscored that Algeria is “an example to follow in the field of the fight against violence against women.”
The 5th General Meeting of Kigali Declaration has been organized under the high patronage of President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
The works of the meeting were opened by Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal, in the presence of UN Chief Ban Ki-moon.
