Amber Rudd hits back at Tory Brexiteers

Home Secretary Amber Rudd has hit back at Tory Brexiteers over attacks on the civil service and claims of disunity.
Ms Rudd said backbencher Jacob Rees-Mogg was "wrong" to accuse the Treasury of "fiddling the figures" with forecasts showing the UK would be worse off outside the EU.
The leaked forecast that sparked the row was a cross-departmental "tool" to "help inform the debate", she said.

On the face of it, it is difficult to not warm to India's newly announced flagship health insurance scheme, designed as a safety net for millions of people who struggle to afford quality medical care.
India has an abysmal record in public health. It presently spends a little over 1% of GDP on public healthcare, one of the lowest levels in the world.
Poor health and steep costs alone are responsible for pushing between three and fiver percent of the population below the poverty line. Rural households source more than a quarter of their health expenses by borrowing or selling assets.

Road to CHAN 2018 final: Will Morocco roar or Nigeria will soar?


All is set for the final of the 2018 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) tournament in Morocco. The hosts have a final hurdle to scale if they are to win their first CHAN title. Standing in their way is Nigeria, who are also looking to win their first.
This is the fifth edition of the competition with North Africa winning two and sub-Saharan Africa also winning twice. Today’s final will put either side one win ahead.

Rebels kill 3 soldiers, looting clinic in eastern DRC


Three people were killed in an attack by suspected Ugandan Muslim rebels of the ADF who also looted a hospital in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, local officials said on Saturday.
“Supposed ADF (Democratic Allied Forces) entered Kitevya yesterday (Friday) night, killing three people: two gunshots and one machete,” Jan Kasereka, a spokesman for the Tunisian civil society, told AFP. Beni in the province of North Kivu.
“They also looted the village health center,” he added.

Kenya police effects third arrest over Odinga's swearing in


Kenyan police on Saturday detained a third opposition figure, the second legislator, who attended a symbolic “swearing-in” of opposition leader Raila Odinga that was a direct challenge to President Uhuru Kenyatta, who won re-election in October.
The government has made several arrests and suspended three television channels that had planned to stream Tuesday’s event.
“George Aladwa was arrested at his house and is currently being held at the headquarters of the Directorate of Criminal Investigation,” his lawyer Nelson Havi told Reuters.
