China offers 10-year visas to 'high end talent'

China is issuing long-term visas to lure highly skilled people from abroad to work in the country.
The multi-entry visas will be valid for between five and 10 years, according to state media.
Technology leaders, entrepreneurs and scientists from in-demand sectors are among those eligible to apply.

US cuts Pakistan security assistance over terror groups

The US government is cutting almost all security aid to Pakistan, saying it has failed to deal with terrorist networks operating on its soil.
The state department said the freeze would remain in place until Islamabad took action against the Haqqani network and the Afghan Taliban.
Earlier this week, President Trump accused Pakistan of lying and deceiving the US while receiving billions in aid.

Meltdown and Spectre: All Mac devices affected, says Apple

Apple has said that all iPhones, iPads and Mac computers are affected by two major flaws in computer chips.
It emerged this week that tech companies have been racing to fix the Meltdown and Spectre bugs, that could allow hackers to steal data.
Apple said it had already released some patches but there was no evidence that the vulnerability had been exploited.

North Korea accepts Olympics talks offer, says South

North Korea has accepted an offer to attend high-level talks next week, South Korean officials have said.
The meeting, on 9 January, will focus on finding a way for North Korean athletes to attend the Winter Olympic Games in South Korea in February.

Trump: Michael Wolff book on administration is 'full of lies'

Donald Trump says a book containing damaging allegations about his administration is "full of lies".
The book cites former top aide Steve Bannon as describing a meeting with a group of Russians at which Mr Trump's son was present as "treasonous".
It also portrays Mr Trump as being surprised by winning the presidency.
