Talk of a government reshuffle has intensified recently. Sources
indicate the reshuffle would take place before the government presents
its programme to the House of Representatives on March 27th.
The reshuffle now is first of all, to calm the anger of many MPs
who will voice their condemnation of the cabinet when it presents its
program to parliament.. Secondly, it comes in response to the growing
rejection of political forces and civil society to the performance of
some ministers.” said Yusry Gharabawy, Akhbar Center for Political
Studies.
The upcoming reshuffle is likely to include 7 ministers, three of
them from the economic team. Though some fear a change in the economic
group could worry investors, others say it will be a step in the right
direction.
“There are many problems concerning investors that have not been
solved by the economic team and remain the same. They completely failed
to make use of the sharm el sheikh economic conference, especially that a
large number of MOUs have not been translated into contracts or work on
the ground ” said Yusry Gharabawy, Akhbar Center for Political Studies.
But its not only the parliament and civil society who are
disappointed with the government , many of the Egyptians are demanding
concrete results from the current ministers.
"The current government has done nothing, It looks like dead,
nothing has improved. I hope there’s a reshuffle soon..for the sake of
the people ” said Magdy El Mazny, Cairo Resident.
"People are tired and the government should meet our needs. The food
is more expensive, prices have increased while salaries and insurance
is too little. The government must focus more on improving the economic
situation of the people” said Gamal el Sayed, Cairo Resident.
There has been no official reaction so far ….but speculation is
rife….and its no longer a matter of if, but when the axe will fall.
